The Recorder's Office is charged with accepting and recording/filing of 400+ different types of documents (according to Minnesota State Statute), providing access to those documents and permanent preservation of all the records in the office.

Most documents presented for recording fall into the following categories: All documents pertaining to real property, Federal/State tax liens, Federal judgments, Court judgments, UCC's (Uniform Commercial Code) that pertains to personal property, Vital Statistics, (Birth, Death, Marriage and Ministerial Credentials) and Military Discharges.
